Pack Event: Recycled Raingutter Regatta

  • Ashburn, VA, 20147 (map)

We are holding our second Pack 1154 Recycled Raingutter Regatta.

New and Non-Scouts are Welcome!

The Rain Gutter Regatta is a laid back sailing equivalent to the Pinewood Derby. This is a great scouter project to make a boat from recycled materials and blow them down the our regatta track. The race will be laid-back and great way for everyone to have fun. Though some building materials will be available, bring a bottle or other boat build building materials to the event to construct and race your boats. We will start by building the boats as a group. The Scouts will then race them, and we will celebrate with popsicles. We will be using balloon pumps for our wind power for this year's regatta.

General Guidelines

  • Each scout can make a boat. Parental help is welcome.

  • Boats should be made from recyclable materials.

  • A pump provided by the pack at the race will be used to blow on the sail of the boat down the track. Hands cannot touch the boat, unless the boat has tipped or sunk.

  • If the boat has tipped or sunk, it may be righted in the same spot it tipped over, not ahead.

  • Remember the Cub Scout Motto, “Do Your Best”. Have fun! Enjoy the spirit of friendly competition and good sportsmanship with your peers.
